The Wittelsbach Dynasty in Heidelberg
As one of the most important royal European families the dynasty of Wittelsbach not only ruled Bavaria but was Prince Electors as well as Count Palatines. Visiting the famous Castle Heidelberg and special places in the Old Town will show you centuries of German history including a Count Palatine from Heidelberg who became King of the German Empire, glamorous times in the 17th century and the catastrophes of terrible wars.
